Earlier this year, I traveled to Amsterdam and London. I took off from Seattle, and as I touched down in Amsterdam, I noticed a message from a Washington D.C. area code. I listened to the message and was filled with disbelief to hear a voice saying, "this is National Geographic trying to get a hold of Teri Rutledge. Please call us back as soon as possible, we have important news to share with you". I spent the weekend in agony, waiting to call back when their offices were open and was completely shocked and amazed when I finally reached the Program Manager for the Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship program and was informed that I was selected as a fellow for 2015.
I will be traveling with Lindblad Expeditions on the National Geographic Endeavor on an expedition to the Galapagos Islands later this spring. On board, I will be in the company of another Grosvenor Teacher Fellow as well as naturalists, scientists and photographers from Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. I am honored to be a part of this program, and look forward to sharing my experiences here.
