Teri RutledgeFrom my earliest memories of backpacking with my family in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest I have had a passion for exploring the world around me. The desire to continue enriching my life personally and professionally by exploring the natural and cultural world has led me to embrace many unique opportunities. From studying abroad at a German Gymnasium in high school, to helping shear sheep on an organic farm/Benedictine Monastery in the San Juan islands, to volunteering at a migrant shelter in Tijuana, Mexico and learning how to make fresh cheese alongside a 5th grade class in Burgundy, I have explored unique cultures and landscapes. These adventures are an essential part of who I am and have shaped me into the passionate educator I am today. One of the best lessons I can teach my students, is to be curious about the world around them and to keep seeking new experiences and opportunities. I am thrilled to have been selected as a 2015 National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and can't wait to share what I learn on this new adventure with my students, colleagues and community.
